EXCHANGE CAPE TOWN - SOEST: Kapstadt zu Gast in Deutschland im Juni/Juli 2026.
Roots of Music, the musical exchange between musicWays Germany e.V. and the Institute for Music and Indigenous Arts Development (IMAD) in Cape Town, began in 2020 with the South African delegation's visit to Soest. Since then it has grown into a steady two-year rhythm: Cape Town comes to Soest, Soest comes to Cape Town — rehearsing together, performing together, two musical worlds meeting directly.
What stays from an exchange like this are the moments that easily get lost: a rehearsal, a conversation, a piece that might otherwise never have been discovered. The archive holds onto them — people, places, rehearsals, and concerts from both sides — and shows what real cultural exchange between two continents can look like.
